Lefkada Sailing Itinerary: 3, 5, and 7 Day Routes
Decide first where you want to sleep. A villa holiday with one boat day and a week living aboard need different routes, budgets and return plans. The southern Ionian offers both; the right itinerary leaves room for the skipper, weather and the actual charter handover.
Day boat or overnight charter?

Do not reserve a villa expecting to sleep there during an overnight route. If combining the two, place the charter before or after the villa stay. Villas Katsiki’s planned opening is May 2027 and its minimum stay is five nights; a three-day sailing plan does not change that minimum.
Three days: a compact Meganisi loop
Suggested brief: Lefkas base → Meganisi → another suitable Meganisi or nearby east-coast stop → return to the original base. Keep this short charter close enough to preserve the final-day buffer. If handover is late on Day 1, stay at the base rather than forcing an evening passage.
- Day 1: handover and provisioning; sail toward Meganisi only if the skipper and departure time allow.
- Day 2: explore a limited route around Meganisi, choosing a suitable harbor or anchorage rather than promising a particular berth.
- Day 3: return early enough for fuel, handback and onward travel; a swim stop is optional.
Five days: Meganisi and southern Lefkada
For a more relaxed five-day brief, discuss Lefkas → Meganisi → Sivota on Lefkada → a short east-coast or Meganisi stop → Lefkas. The point is an extra harbor evening and a flexible day, not adding every neighboring island.

Seven days: choose one coherent Ionian circuit
A week allows a wider route if the crew and conditions suit it. One operator-published pattern starts at Lefkas, then visits Meganisi, Kalamos and Kastos before continuing through the southern Ionian and back to base. Another includes Sivota and northern Kefalonia. Choose one circuit with the operator, rather than combining them into a crowded week.
For a first planning conversation, use: Day 1 base/handover; Day 2 Meganisi; Day 3 Kalamos; Day 4 Kastos; Day 5 a skipper-selected return-side stop; Day 6 back toward the base; Day 7 handback. This is an editorial outline, not a navigational route. Replace or remove stops when weather or berth availability requires it.
Operator examples give roughly 11–12 nautical miles for a Lefkas–Meganisi leg, but distance varies with the actual ports and route. Published sailing times are not a promise: yacht speed, wind, sea state and marina procedures all affect the day. Obtain passage planning and local instructions from the charter company and skipper.

Choose one flexible day rather than treating the three-, five- or seven-day routes as daily road-and-boat excursions. Discuss an east-coast departure and a manageable Meganisi-area route. Before confirming a boat
- Confirm the exact base, boarding procedure, route flexibility and return deadline.
- Ask about shade, toilet, swimming access, properly sized safety equipment and children’s needs.
- Separate the quoted charter price from fuel, skipper, mooring, food, cleaning and deposits.
- Read the weather and cancellation policy; never treat a route as guaranteed.
- For bareboat hire, confirm the qualifications and experience the operator accepts.
Add time ashore before or after sailing
Villas Katsiki is planned to open near Porto Katsiki in May 2027, with a five-night minimum stay.
