5-Day Luxury Lefkada Itinerary

Five days in Lefkada can include a famous west-coast beach, a southern harbor, an inland village day and a boat outing—without crossing the island repeatedly. This plan is designed around a southwest base near Athani, with one main area each day.

Day 1 — Settle into the southwest
If arriving through Aktion/Preveza airport, collect your transport and travel onto Lefkada via its mainland road connection. Leave provisioning and check-in time in the plan. A stop in Lefkada Town makes sense only if your arrival time and luggage arrangements allow it; it is not a required detour after a late flight.
For a southwest base, keep the first afternoon around Athani and your accommodation. Walk around the village, choose a meal from what is actually open and enjoy the terrace. If this is already a full day after arrival, use the morning locally rather than adding another island circuit.
Day 2 — Porto Katsiki, then slow down
Make Porto Katsiki your main outing, not the first of three famous beaches. Check current access and sea conditions before leaving. Carry water, sun protection and footwear suitable for the approach; allow time and energy for the return.
Choose lunch back in the Athani area, then leave the afternoon for the villa. Egremni can replace Porto Katsiki on a separate suitable day, but this plan does not assume that both beach approaches will suit every group. Read the beach overview and current local guidance before deciding.
Day 3 — Vasiliki and the southern coast
Keep the day in the south: spend time around Vasiliki’s harbor and choose lunch there. If the group wants a swim, consider Ammouso after checking the route, current conditions and facilities. Alternatively, keep the afternoon at your accommodation.
This is not the day to add Kathisma or Lefkada Town. If you want watersports or a boat transfer, confirm the specific operator, departure, equipment and weather policy; the itinerary does not assume these are included or running.
Day 4 — Karya and a village lunch
Take an inland day around Karya rather than another coast-to-coast drive. Spend time in the village and arrange lunch according to current opening hours. Keep any additional stop close to the same inland route and leave room for a relaxed return.
Do not turn a village visit into an unplanned hike. Walking routes, heat, daylight and your group’s fitness need separate consideration. A quiet afternoon at the villa is a deliberate part of the itinerary, not a missed attraction.
Day 5 — An east-coast boat day from Nidri
Use this as the one dedicated east-coast excursion. If boating is a priority, confirm a suitable departure from Nidri and the route directly with the operator. A Meganisi outing may suit the brief, but the actual stops depend on the boat, weather and permissions; no landing or secluded beach is guaranteed.
Allow for the drive to and from your southwest base and keep dinner simple afterward. If boating is unsuitable, stay on land around Nidri instead of improvising an exposed sea trip. Move this day earlier if the operator recommends a better weather window.
Practical choices before you book
- Transport: this southwest-based route assumes a car or pre-arranged driver. Without one, simplify the plan around a single base and confirmed services.
- Timing: check routes for your actual dates; we avoid fixed driving times, opening hours and seasonal schedules.
- Comfort: choose beaches by access as well as appearance. Heat, sea conditions and cliffside approaches can change a sensible plan.
- Bookings: ask what a boat, meal or other service includes, its cancellation terms and its weather alternative.
